QNS 1

QNS 1 is the first record in the QNS series on Felix K's Hidden Hawaii: six single-sided 12-inches issued between 2009 and 2011, each limited to 150 hand-numbered copies on grey marbled vinyl. QNS stands for Quantity Not Sufficient. The records carry no artist name and no track title, only a stamped drawing on the centre label by the Berlin illustrator Wenke Kramp: the six images tell one story across the series. Three delta-winged jets peeling away from an angular structure, starbursts behind it. Written and produced by Felix K. Copies of QNS 1 are especially scarce: much of the pressing was lost when the British distributor Loadmedia went bankrupt. It was the QNS series that led Torsten Pröfrock, who records as T++, to take Hidden Hawaii into Hard Wax distribution. The series was reissued digitally in 2013 and as a boxed set of 50 copies with the stamps printed in blue.
